Ryn began music lessons on the viola at the age of seven. Later, she played violin, continuing on both instruments throughout high school before settling on the viola as my primary instrument. Her musical education includes experience with the Young Musicians of Virginia and the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Suzuki Strings Programs. In 2010, I toured with the SIUE Suzuki Tour group, visiting and performing throughout Spain. She participated in the Hot Springs Music Festival for two summers during her college years.
Ryn completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Viola Performance in 2017, studying with Bradley Ottesen at Utah State University. In 2019, she graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Master’s Degree in Suzuki Pedagogy (teaching), under the mentorship of Dr. Karin Hallberg, Dr. Jacquelyn Schwandt, and Dr. Louise Scott.
Her performance experience includes playing with the Starlight City Quartet, Logan River Quartet, Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, and the Northern Utah Symphony Orchestra. She has also played in Cache Valley productions of Anastasia, Between the Lines, and Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.
